The All-American Basketball League announced in a news release it hopes to kick off its inaugural season this summer, according to a report in the Augusta Chronicle, with a 12-team lineup composed of all-white, American-born men."

Only players that are natural-born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league," the statement, issued on Martin Luther King weekend, reportedly read.

Don "Moose" Lewis, described as a Georgia-based boxing and wrestling promoter in a report on BET.com denied racism was behind his move to create the segregated hoops league."There’s nothing hatred about what we’re doing," he told the Augusta Chronicle.

"I don’t hate anyone of color. But people of white American-born citizens [sic] are in the minority now.

Here’s a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like."Lewis told the paper he defines "fundamental basketball" as different from the "street-ball" played by "people of color," and claimed recent scandals in professional basketball -- such as the gun charges dogging the Wizards' Gilbert Arenas -- have made the creation of all-white teams a necessity.

"Would you want to go to the game and worry about a player flipping you off or attacking you in the stands or grabbing their crotch?" he told the paper. "That’s the culture today, and in a free country we should have the right to move ourselves in a better direction.

"The proposal was swiftly condemned by the mayor of Augusta, one of the 12 Southeastern cities the league is eyeing."I could not support in good conscience bringing in a team that did not fit with the spirit of inclusiveness that I, along with many others, have worked so hard to foster in our city,"

WTF ! Arizona Woman Tries To Trade Her Daughter For A Gun.

PHOENIX — Authorities say they have arrested an Arizona woman who traded her 2-year-old daughter for a gun.

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies arrested 33-year-old Tanya Nareau of Mesa on Tuesday after receiving a tip.

Deputies say they spoke with a family friend who had the child and confirmed Nareau gave the girl to him for gun.

Deputies say Nareau felt the friend would do a better job raising the child than she would.
Authorities say Nareau has been charged with the unlawful sale of a child and solicitation to possess a weapon by a prohibited person.

It was unclear if Nareau had legal representation

“They were under the heel of the French, uh, you know Napoleon the 3rd and whatever, and they got together and swore a pact to the Devil.

A mentally disabled woman was found in Wisconsin confined to a home by chains and covered in her own feces.

56-year-old Sally Adams and her son 34-year-old Ernest Claiborne are being charged with keeping Adams' 38-year-old daughter and Adams' 2 1/2 -year-old grandson in disgusting conditions in their Wisconsin home.

According to police, the daughter who is believed to have the mental capacity of a 5-year-old, was found chained to an exercise bench and the grandson confined to a car seat in a filthy diaper.

Police got word of the possibility of cruel conditions after the grandson's father was not allowed to see his child and had been kept at bay since September.

The daughter weighed less than 70 pounds and could not stand or walk after being unchained. She was not able to communicate with police at the scene.

Ernest Claiborne told police the child was confined so that he could take a nap. Both defendants deny chaining the mentally ill daughter.

LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 6) -- In 2006, Abraham Shakespeare - a truck driver's assistant who lived with his mother - won $30 million in the Florida lottery. His good fortune may have cost him his life.Shakespeare vanished months ago.

His mother hopes he is somewhere in the Caribbean, lying on a beach and enjoying the good life away from all the hangers-on who were constantly hitting him up for money.The sheriff has a more ominous theory: Shakespeare was killed."There are a lot of odd and bizarre circumstances in this case," Sheriff Grady Judd said.

"We fear and are preparing for the worst. We're working this case as if it were a homicide."

Shakespeare, 43, won the big jackpot after buying a lottery ticket at a convenience store in a town called Frostproof, claiming later that he gave the last $3 in his pocket to a homeless man just before the winning numbers were announced.

Shakespeare - who had a criminal record that included arrests and prison time for burglary, battery and not paying child support - took a lump-sum payment of $16.9 million instead of annual installments.

He bought a Nissan Altima, a Rolex from a pawn shop, a $1 million home in a gated community. He talked about starting a foundation for the poor and insisted the money wouldn't change him.

"I'm not a material person," he said in 2007. "I don't let material things run me. I'm on a tight budget."

The money quickly caused him problems.A former co-worker sued him in 2007, accusing Shakespeare of stealing the winning ticket from him. Six months later, a jury ruled the ticket was Shakespeare's.Then there were the people constantly asking him for a piece of his fortune.

"They didn't wait. They just came right after they found out he won this money," his mother, Elizabeth Walker, said recently.

She said her son was generous, paying for funerals, lending money to friends starting businesses and even giving a million dollars to a guy known only as "Big Man."

Not long after he bought the million-dollar home in early 2007, he was approached by a woman named Dee Dee Moore, said family and officials.Moore - who could not be reached by The Associated Press - said she was interested in writing a book about Shakespeare's life.

She became something of a financial adviser to Shakespeare, who never graduated high school.Property records show that Moore's company, American Medical Professionals, bought Shakespeare's home for $655,000 last January. His mother said the last time she saw him was shortly afterward, around her birthday in February.


The sheriff said the last time anyone saw Shakespeare was in April - but it wasn't until Nov. 9 that he was reported missing, by a police informant.And the story gets more bizarre.According to The Ledger of Lakeland, the 37-year-old Moore contacted reporters at the newspaper in April, saying Shakespeare was "laying low" because people tried to suck money out of him.That made sense to Shakespeare's mother - sort of.

"I remember once, talking with me over the phone, he said he might go to Jamaica," she said.On Dec. 5, a sobbing Moore told The Ledger that she helped Shakespeare disappear, but now wants him to return because detectives were searching her home and car and looking for blood on her belongings.One reason he wanted to leave, she said, was a child support case for a child he allegedly fathered after winning the lottery.

"Abraham sold me his mess to get a better life," she told the paper.She even gave the paper a video that she said she took of Abraham. In the video, he says he is tired of people asking him for money. "They don't take no for an answer," he says."So where you wanna go to?" Moore asks in the video."It don't matter to me. I'm not a picky person,"

Shakespeare replies.Moore told the paper that she took the video to "protect herself."Moore said she filed paperwork to take over five mortgages totaling about $370,000 that had been owed to Shakespeare.

She said she sold the loans at a loss to another person. She added that many of the people who borrowed from Shakespeare have refused to pay, and she feels threatened by some of them.

Moore's past includes a year of probation after she was charged with falsely reporting that she was carjacked and raped in 2001. Officials said she concocted the scheme so her insurance company would reimburse her for the SUV, which she claimed had been stolen.

The woman did not answer several calls placed to a number listed for her in public records. During a recent visit to the home she bought from Shakespeare, a security box rang to a phone number that had been disconnected.

Sheriff's officials won't comment on Moore's involvement in Shakespeare's life.The sheriff said that Shakespeare spent the bulk of his lottery winnings. The fact that he didn't call his mother on

4 Year Old Found Wandering Around Drunk. You Guessed It , It Was In Tennessee

Tennessee investigators say a 4-year-old boy was found roaming his neighborhood in the night, drinking beer and wearing a little girl's dress taken from under a neighbor's Christmas tree.The child's mother, 21-year-old April Wright, tells WTVC-TV the boy "wants to go to jail because that's where his daddy is." Wright says she and the boy's father are going though a divorce.

The boy, found outside his house in Chatanooga on Tuesday, was taken to a hospital and treated for alcohol consumption.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Janice Atkinson says the incident is being investigated, but the department declined to release the report.

The boy's mother says she met with child protective services and was told she will get to keep custody of her son.

WTF ?! Woman Forges Check, Than Hitches Ride On Ice Cream Truck To Cash It ?

HOLIDAY — A 22-year-old woman is accused of stealing a check from her 78-year-old grandfather, then conning a friend who drives an ice cream truck to cash the check for her.

Christie Rae Ogden, of 1238 Flotilla Drive in Holiday, was charged Tuesday with uttering a forged instrument. She was already in jail on charges of habitually driving with a suspended or revoked license, possession of controlled substances and violating her probation.

Ogden stole the check from her grandfather on Nov. 5 and wrote it out for $350, according to a report from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Then she told a 26-year-old ice cream truck driver that she would give him $20 if he took her to the bank and cashed the check, the report said.

The bank teller pretended to cash it but instead called authorities, as there had been problems with Ogden stealing her grandfather's checks in the past, the report said.

A deputy found the ice cream truck in Holiday Lakes Estates and performed a traffic stop so he could interview the driver, who explained how he took Ogden to the bank.

Ogden (pictured, above) remained at the Land O'Lakes jail Wednesday in lieu of $8,763 bail.

14 Year Old Shot In The Head While Walking With His Mother

A 14-year-old boy was shot in the head while walking with his mother in the Northwest Side Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago Tuesday morning.

Just after 9 a.m. the boy was walking with his mother on the 3500 block of West Armitage Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez, when he was approached by a male in his late teens or early 20s.

After yelling gang slogans and putting up gang signs, the offender took out a handgun and shot the boy in the head, Perez said.

The victim was taken in serious to critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis. Perez said the boy has since been transferred to Children's Memorial Hospital.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Authorities have charged a North Carolina woman with selling moonshine out of her day care center. The Charlotte Observer reported Tuesday that North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement arrested a 57-year-old woman last week at Parkview Community Center in Charlotte.

Agents said children were in the day care center when they sent in an undercover agent to buy two gallons of moonshine.

The woman told the paper she was set up by a neighbor. She said she was just holding a package for a man in exchange for $80 and didn't even know what was in it.

Agents also arrested an 82-year-old man and charged him with making the moonshine. Authorities seized more than 80 gallons of moonshine from the man.

Prison officials in Nevada have shot down reports O.J. SIMPSON was hospitalised on Monday (08Dec09) after online rumours alleged the former American footballer had been attacked while behind bars.




Simpson is serving a 33-year sentence at Lovelock Correctional Center after he was convicted for masterminding a 2007 memorabilia heist in Las Vegas.

Reports circulated the internet on Monday night alleging the 62 year old had been admitted to hospital after being beaten up badly by fellow inmates. Unnamed sources claimed the rumoured attack was racially motivated.

But the assault and Simpson's supposed hospitalisation are news to Lovelock prison authorities, who insist the retired sportsman is still incarcerated without incident, reports local news station KPIX-TV.

An Indiana 17-year-old who told authorities he identified with a television serial killer said strangling his 10-year-old brother satisfied a craving like a hungry person eating a hamburger, according to court documents.

Andrew Conley of Rising Sun showed no remorse or emotion as he described choking to death Conner Conley as the two wrestled Sunday, a probable cause affidavit said. He told investigators the child's last words were "Andrew, stop."

Conley said he dragged his brother's body to his car before driving to see his girlfriend, who told investigators the teen "seemed happy, more happy than she had seen him in a while," according to the affidavit. Conley said he dumped the body near a park in the Ohio River community about 90 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

"Sometimes people are just evil," Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard said. "This is an evil child."

Prosecutors filed preliminary charges of murder against Conley along with a supporting affidavit Thursday. He is being charged as an adult and will appear Friday in court, Negangard said.
Conley's family did not return messages for comment Thursday. Negangard said Conley had an attorney but none was listed in the affidavit.

The teen told investigators he had had fantasies about killing someone since he was in eighth grade, including cutting somebody's throat, and felt "just like" the serial killer Dexter on the Showtime television series of the same name.

"Like I had to ... like when people have something like they are hungry and there is a hamburger sitting there and they knew they had to have it and I was sitting there and it just happened," Conley said in the affidavit.

The slaying comes six weeks after 15-year-old Alyssa Bustamante told Missouri authorities she strangled, stabbed and cut a 9-year-old neighbor's throat because she wanted to know what it was like to kill someone.

The affidavit in Conley's case described him killing his brother before visiting his girlfriend and other friends. It said:

The two brothers were wrestling while their parents were at work. Conley put Conner in a headlock, causing the younger boy to pass out and fall to the floor. Conley dragged Conner to kitchen, put on a pair of gloves and choked the boy for about 20 minutes until he noticed blood flowing from Conner's nose and mouth.

Conley put a plastic bag over his brother's head, secured it with black electrical tape, and dragged the body by its feet down steps to the basement and then from the home to his car. Conley struck Conner's head on the ground several times before putting the body in the trunk of the car.

With the body still in the trunk, Conley drove to his girlfriend's house and gave her a sweetheart ring.

Negangard said he will consider seeking the maximum prison term of life without parole. Conley's age makes him ineligible for the death penalty.

"I believe Andrew Conley is a dangerous person," Negangard said.
Conley also told investigators that on the morning of Conner's death, he stood over his sleeping father with a knife and thought about killing him. Conley went to police Sunday night, admitted killing Conner and told investigators where to find the body.

The teen had no juvenile record and his teachers considered him a good student, Negangard said.

"This kid, Conner, was a good kid, and Andrew was an A and B student," he said.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Blessed with a Friday off school, 15-year-old Alyssa Bustamante dug two holes in the ground to be used as a grave, authorities said. For the next week, she attended classes, all the while plotting the right time for a murder, they said.

That time arrived the evening of Oct. 21, when Bustamante strangled 9-year-old neighbor Elizabeth Olten without provocation, cut the girl's throat and stabbed her, prosecutors said. Why?

"Ultimately, she stated she wanted to know what it felt like," Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. David Rice testified Wednesday during a court hearing over the slaying.

Rice, who interviewed Bustamante in the days after Elizabeth's disappearance, said she confessed to investigators and led them to the fourth grader's well-concealed body in a wooded area near their neighborhood in St. Martins, a small town west of Jefferson City.

A Cole County judge ruled Wednesday that Bustamante, who has been held in Missouri's juvenile justice system, should be tried as an adult. Hours later, the teen was indicted on adult charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action for allegedly using a knife to kill Elizabeth. A judge later entered a not guilty plea on Bustamante's behalf and referred her to the public defender's office.

The court proceedings marked the first time that the suspect in Elizabeth's death had been publicly identified since a two-day search for the girl by hundreds of volunteers. When they found Elizabeth's body Oct. 23, authorities only said that a 15-year-old had led them to it and was in custody for the slaying.

Bustamante remained largely expressionless as she sat with her hands shackled around her waist in court Wednesday. She occasionally looked down beneath the brown bangs that covered her eyes and swallowed hard as a judge read the charges against her.

On one side of the courtroom sat her mother and grandmother, who has been Bustamante's legal guardian for about half of her life. On the other side sat Elizabeth's mother, relatives and friends, several of whom wore pink — Elizabeth's favorite color.

Bustamante was ordered held without bond pending her trial. If convicted of first-degree murder, she would be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Witnesses at Bustamante's adult certification hearing described a girl who was bright yet depressed and clever in a sometimes sneaky sort of way. She ranked in roughly the top third of her class at Jefferson City High School, the principal said, and had been in no trouble at school or with the law.

Yet Bustamante had tried to commit suicide at age 13 and had been receiving mental health treatment for depression and cutting herself, said David Cook, the chief juvenile officer in Cole County. Once, she led her family to believe she was attending a local church event when she instead sneaked off to a concert in St. Louis, about two hours away, Cook said. On one or two other occasions, Bustamante spent the night in the woods without permission, he said.

After her arrest, Bustamante tried to cut herself with her own fingernails while being held in juvenile custody, said her appointed juvenile defense attorney Kurt Valentine.

He argued Bustamante should remain in the juvenile system, where she could potentially be rehabilitated before being set free by age 21. Valentine warned that Bustamante would either kill herself or be assaulted and killed by others if she were placed in an adult jail cell or prison.

"We are throwing away the child and we are signing a death sentence for Alyssa," Valentine said. "She is not going to survive her time in the Cole County jail."

Cole County Sheriff Greg White said later that Bustamante would be held at a different, undisclosed location.

Cook recommended Bustamante be tied as an adult. Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem agreed, saying the killing was vicious and that the state had no adequate facilities or services to treat Bustamante if she remained in the juvenile system.

Bill Heberle, with the Missouri Division of Youth Services, testified that the state has no secure facilities with fences for female juveniles. Youths in Missouri's juvenile system generally are housed in group settings and are not typically watched by staff 24 hours a day, he said.
